I know, you read my recipes post and couldn’t WAIT for the grocery store post. Well, here it is! I’m going to give you the top ten reasons of why I love Aldi (I’ll make another post about Wegmans in the future) Please keep in mind, I shop at one Aldi and only occasionally go to another one about 15 minutes away. Some things that are store-specific may or may not apply to the Aldi near you. So don’t be angry at me if what you think I’m saying is wrong.
10) Aways clean. The floors are always clean, no garbage, the aisles are well kept.
9) Well-stocked. I have never been to Aldi and they’re out of something I need. It amazes me.
8) Quarter for a cart. Sure, it seems weird for a first-timer, but people returning their carts and locking them means less chances for your car to get hit by a cart in the parking lot. Genius
7) Seasonal items. I love that Aldi keeps the basics and changes up the other seasonal stuff. It makes you keep going back. And their seasonal stuff is AMAZING.
6) Aisle of Shame. I’m part of an Aldi nerds group on Facebook. This is where the Aisle of Shame is coined from. It’s the aisle that has random stuff in it—cookware, boots, PJs, blankets, toys…all in the aisle of shame. 10/10. A must see.
5) Quick lines at the register. Sometimes you’ll be behind 4-5 people that have a TON of things and you’ll think to yourself “UGHHH.” But then you realize the line actually moves quickly. The secret behind it? Barcodes EVERYWHERE on the products. Also, the produce doesn’t have a bunch of confusing digits for the cashiers. I’ve noticed them typing in usually 2 numbers for each produce item. Also they don’t bag anything, they just put it in your cart…which brings me to number 4
4) Bring your own bag. Sure you can buy a bag for a small fee, but that’s silly unless you’re in pickle and need one. I enjoy bagging my own items since I’m picky about how they go in the bags. I also appreciate not having to use cheap plastic bags like you get at some other stores that tend to rip as you’re carrying in jars of pickled items from the garage to the house, making everything smell like….well, pickles. (Too specific?) (Also I just realized I put “pickle” in the first sentence of this paragraph as well. Too ironic to delete, please enjoy).
3) Happy employees. The employees there genuinely seem happy, which makes me believe that Aldi is a great company to work for. (PS – the cashiers get to sit! Makes sense, right? American stores, we need to up our game).
2) Not a million options for one product. I appreciate going into a store needing olive oil, and not having to look at 10 different brands trying to pick one. With Aldi, it’s one brand. You need it, you grab it. You’re not wasting a ton of time in the store trying to weigh your options.
1) Prices. The most obvious one. I go to other stores and CRINGE at the prices. I’ve become spoiled. Most items at Aldi are at least $1 cheaper than in other stores. That adds up!
So there you have it. The top ten reasons why Aldi is the best store I’ve ever been in. I hope this post makes you want to go to Aldi!
